The 5kg CO2 extinguisher is best suited for premises combating a risk of large fires, involving live electrical equipment or flammable liquid fires.
Unlike the swivel horn of the 2kg, the 5kg horn is on the end of a hose for easy direction to the base of the fire.
Whilst a 5kg carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is useful for large electrical items, do not use it on Class A (paper, wood, cloth, etc) fires.
Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher can be used where electrical items are on fire but it should not be used on Class A (paper, wood, cloth, etc) fires. Carbon Dioxide Extinguishers need factory refilling and testing or service-exchange. (see Fire Risk Guidance, in the information section)
Suitable for: all premises with live electrical equipment, computers, machines. Also useful against small flammable liquid fires or for welding fire accidents.
Types of fire: include Class B (flammable liquids) and fires involving live electrical equipment
Fire precautions and Fire fighting equipment must be accompanied by regular training and its selection and use based on your Fire Risk Assessment.
We offer a Fire Risk Assessment Service and full, first aid Fire-fighting training, at our Telford training centre.
Information is available from our down loads section, including a proforma for risk assessment and a guide on the selection and use of portable extinguishers.
