This 6 Litre, Powder extinguisher is best suited to moderate risks in commercial and factory premises; combating localised fires in rubber, plastics, wood, paper, yarn and flammable liquid fires.
Use this also for risk to HGVs.
As general advice, we prefer that two or three, smaller extinguishers take the place of one, large one, for instance. Large extinguishers may be difficult to handle, to direct easily and will usually be less well to hand, in the event of a fire. Don't forget that most Fire Marshals are not built like Geoff Capes! We suggest this model, in most commercial premises, provides best all round service and protection.
Easy to direct at the base of the fire, Foam extinguishers have good 'knock-down' characteristics but have also the advantage of absorbing similarly large amounts of heat from the fire, as does water.
The foam smothers flames and deprives the fire of oxygen.
Foam Fire extinguishers leave no mess and, used on engine fires, will not inherently cause damage to bearing component surfaces (see Fire Risk Guidance, in the information section)
Suitable for: flammable liquid fires: machine and vehicle fires, offices and workshops and fuelling stations.
Types of fire: include Classes A, B (solids, flammable liquids) and fires involving live electrical equipment at less than 50 Volts PD.
Fire precautions and Fire fighting equipment must be accompanied by regular training and its selection and use based on your Fire Risk Assessment.
We offer a Fire Risk Assessment Service and full, first aid Fire-fighting training, at our Telford training centre.
Information is available from our down loads section, including a proforma for risk assessment and a guide on the selection and use of portable extinguishers.
