This foul-weather suit will appeal to workers who buy their own clothing: costly but good value and top quality; offering practical, all-day comfort - its arms and legs designed for fluid, unrestricted movement and the closures storm-proof, whilst permitting sweat-free ventilation.
Wrists are closed by Velcro adjusted (Rot-proof, PU) rubber seals, effective at keeping water from draining in to the raised arms, in bad weather. The jacket has reinforced elbow, fore-arm and skirt, whilst the bib and brace trousers have reinforced knees and crotch. Wrist and ankle points are adjusted tight with Velcro tabs.
The jacket has two, generous external pockets and one internal breast pocket. The trousers have two, external, hip pockets. The Jacket pockets have fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets, built in. The jacket also has an external hanging loop, for draining and drying. Containment pockets are closed with Velcro tabs (sometimes annoying but always secure, I find).
Originally designed for off-shore sailing and racing, we have found this kit brilliant for site use in safety inspections, Confined Space stand-by work and water-side safety duties; keeping us dry, warm and comfortable all day.
Its generous cut permits comfy use with a variety of underclothing such as warm wear and fleeces and useful pockets accommodate cell-phones, wallets, small torches and all the paraphernalia sailors (and confined space workers) need to hand.
The fluorescent, yellow hood keeps the weather off the face and yet allows a good vertical and lateral fields of view. It is adjustable and will fit over a safety helmet.
The reflective stripes are durable and effective, if not compliant with EN 471:2003 (which requires at least 2, annular bands of 5cm width, retro-reflective tape, on garments). In our tests, flash-lamps easily detected the wearer in dark, rainy conditions, in low, ambient light conditions (below 1/1000 Lux), at a minimum distance of 30 Metres.
