XEROTECH ® Diver’s hood stays ahead with safety.
Used by discerning divers and manufactured to the highest standards of workman-ship, our hood is designed to fit comfortably, without restriction and independently of the dry-suit neck seal, whilst affording warmth and protection to the neck- and dryness, when full-face mask diving- even around the neck and ears.
Made in sizes small, medium and large; small size fits hat sizes 6 to 7, medium, hat sizes 6 ¾ to 7 ¼ and large fits hat sizes 7 ¼ to 7¾ and Extra Large, bigger than that. 80% of male divers will fit the large size.
Manufactured in nylon covered, 5mm closed-cell, foam Chloroprene rubber, the hood’s seams are butt joined with special adhesives to provide “seamless” comfort with substantial seam strength. The face margins of the hood are made in butt seamed “smooth-skin” foam Chloroprene, slightly thinner than the main carapace of the hood, so that there is little elastic tension around the jaw. Hoods that do not share this feature often cause significant jaw fatigue but ours remains a pleasure to wear all-day.
The XEROTECH hood is particularly compatible with full-face diving masks, especially with the DIVATOR mask; which, in its positive (safety) pressure version, effects a better seal against air leakage and, very often, a better mask fit- especially where smaller head sizes are considered; bearing in mind that the Divator mask is currently only available in one size.
Traditionally, cloth faced, foam rubber hoods present a leakage problem, when full-face mask diving because, with a conventional D/V, water leaks into the mask and, with a positive pressure system (for diving in contaminated water) air leaks from the face seal.
This hood provides an air and water-tight seal between its flange and the mask face-seal but it allows positive pressure air to flow slightly into its body. This keeps the interior of the hood dry, whilst not allowing an internal hood pressure more than 15 m Bar – thus the diver remains dry, when diving in normal prone and upright diving positions.
Available at Helios Safety & Rescue retailers in Britain, XEROTECH hoods might cost a few pounds more than some but if you don’t think the difference has been worth while; we’ll replace your hood for a cheaper one and refund the difference through your dealer - always provided you give us back our beautiful hood, so that our divers can use it!
