Product Description

Annual Service and check/calibration testing for Spiromatic Breathing Apparatus (SDBA) -
this includes cylinder valve service but not the cylinder, other than refilling it.

Prices do not include the price for periodic cylinder testing, which is an additional £35.00 net, per cylinder, should this be needed. This service is available only in mainland UK.
The price includes for one hour's technician time and general consumables, such as common O-rings and lubricants. Usually, service time for this range of BA will not exceed the hour but if there is expected to be substantially more time needed, or replacement of major/expensive components, we will contact you to ascertain your agreement to such further work as is necessary.

What is included:

  • Disassembly and cleaning all main components (we use a combination of Ultra-sound and detergent methods)

  • Replacement of O-rings, when required (ascertained by gauging elastomer modulus), appropriate lubrication and refilling air cylinders. Note that all elastomeric components will be changed over when the last major service was more than six years past. Such extensive replacement is not part of an annual service.

  • Assembly and bench test to written protocol.

  • We send you an electronic copy of the service record and the serial identity and job tracking number appears on your invoice. The record, detailing serial numbers, job details and other notes is kept on our files for at least five years following your last service order. We are thus able to record the complete history of your safety equipment, from the time we are first involved with it.

  • Certificates of Conformity are available up on paying an administrative charge of £10.00 net.

  • The cardinal issue remains that a record be kept of all use, inspection and service. The law requires the employer to competently inspect all respiratory protective devices at least monthly and to maintain a record for at least five years, following the last use of the equipment.

Please note our General Policy Statement, here below: regarding the maintenance of Breathing Apparatus, as at 2010/01

BREATHING APPARATUS MAINTENANCE:

  1. Standard Charges for service to Interspiro breathing valve and mask includes necessary replacement of O-rings, Valve seat cone and balancing diaphragm and replacement inner mask valve disks. Parts are changed, if found necessary after due examination and cleaning. Other parts are charged extra at published prices, or otherwise advised to the customer in advance.
  2. CERTIFICATES OF TEST FOR B.A. & SCUBA INCORPORATING DEMAND VALVES, ARE BASED ON TESTS INDICATED BY THE MANUFACTURER’S PUBLISHED MANUALS AND OTHERWISE APPROXIMATE TO BS/EN TEST STANDARDS. IN PARTICULAR, BREATHING CHARACTERISTICS ARE TESTED TO PROVE COMPETENCE.
  3. COSHH Regulations & Diving Regulations require a written record of Maintenance for all RPD, excepting disposable face-masks and equipment of simple design, to be kept for a minimum of five years, prior to disposal.
  4. FOR BS 4667/-:   POSITIVE PRESSURE BA SHALL MAINTAIN A PRESSURE ABOVE AMBIENT IN THE FACE MASK WHEN THE PEAK INSPIRATION RATE IS AT LEAST 250 LITRES PER MINUTE (> 4.1 LITRES/SEC) BUT NO HIGHER PRESSURE THAN 0.6 KPa AND EXHALATION PRESSURE SHALL NOT EXCEED 0.9 Kpa AT 250 LITRES/MIN NOR 0.6 Kpa DURING ANY EXHALATION.
  5. NEGATIVE PRESSURE BA SHALL EXHIBIT EXHALATION CHARACTERISTICS IN THE SAME RANGE AND REQUIRE AN INHALATION OPERATING PRESSURE NO GREATER THAN 0.3KPa BELOW AMBIENT PRESSURE TO START THE AIR FLOW NOR SHALL THE PRESSURE REDUCE BY MORE THAN 0.5 Kpa BELOW AMBIENT WHEN THE PEAK BREATHING RATE IS 120 LITRES/MIN.
  6. FOR Ens 136/137/402/250/-:                            SIMILAR TESTS WILL BE CONDUCTED BUT AT PEAK INHALATION AND EXHALATION RATES OF AT LEAST 300 LITRES/MIN. WHERE THE INHALATION PHASE MUST MAINTAIN POST ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE BUT NO HIGHER THAN BY 0.4 Kpa AND THE MAXIMUM EXHALATION PRESSURES WILL BE: (OPENING PRESSURE) <0.6KPa, (@ 160 LITRES/MIN) <0.7 KPa and (@ 300 LITRES/MIN) <1.0 KPa.
  7. BREATHING TESTS ARE CONDUCTED USING MANOMETERS ACCURATE TO +/- 0.01 kPa AND FLOW CHECK TESTS ACCURATE TO +/- 10%
