Safety glasses, whether lightweight visitors specs or fully fitting prescription spectacles must not be worn (unless adjunct to other eye-protection) for protection against:

1. High speed, flying particles or objects (greater than 50 Metres/second and heavier than 5 grammes)
2. Liquid chemical splash, vapours, gases and dusts or other noxious aerosol.
3. When using grinding wheels or other machinery rotating at high speed - such as flails, brush cutters, chain saws, rotary cutters and so forth. In these cases, high impact goggles and full visor, face-shields are required.
